Unregistered Residences

Unregistered operators may provide assisted living services for only one or two persons not related to them by blood or marriage. The Assisted Living Registry investigates any complaint of an unregistered assisted living residence that may be operating.

This page provides information regarding residences which have been substantiated to be in contravention of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, because they were operating without a registration when one was required. These service providers are not monitored or regulated. As such, they may present an increased risk to the health and safety to those who receive services from them.

Please note: if the residence you were looking for is not listed, it may be due to one of the following:

• There have been no complaints made about it;
• They are not required to be registered (i.e., independent housing or only 1 or 2 persons receiving services);
• They may be registered, see About Assisted Living Residences for more information; or,
• They may be a licensed facility (i.e., long term care or substance use): see Finding a Residential Care Facility.
